Welcome to the British Baccalaureate, the Sixth Form at British School of Almería! We want to accompany you during this new educational stage, our programme is designed to offer a comprehensive education, combining academic excellence and English proficiency. Our aim is to help our students prepare for the challenges of the future, fostering critical and cultural skills in an international environment. Our school follows the official British Curriculum which is carefully adapted to meet the needs of our increasingly international student base. The British education system has always been renowned for its focus on academic excellence. It is also a creative, flexible system which focuses on the real-life application of knowledge and the acquisition of new skills. In British schools, although there are clear objectives assigned to each year group, the teacher has the flexibility to adapt the curriculum to suit their pupils’ interests and individual needs. This freedom allows them to provide a creative curriculum and to deliver dynamic and inspiring lessons which provide a truly enjoyable learning experience for their pupils.

Sixth Form programme (Key Stage 5)
The Key Stage 5 curriculum at British School of Almería offers an advanced and specialised education, covering key subjects such as mathematics, science, humanities and languages. Our baccalaureate in Almeria focuses on developing fundamental skills in a British environment, preparing students for higher education and the international professional environment.
Students have the opportunity to choose subjects specific to their interests and future goals, promoting a personalised and relevant education. In addition, we encourage participation in a range of extracurricular activities for their all-round development. In the Sixth Form, we help our students to assume responsibility for their own learning, to take a disciplined approach to their work, and to make a contribution to the community. We provide a clear framework within which they can develop both as students and individuals.
Subjects that make up the Sixth Form programme
Key Stage 5: 1º y 2º baccalaureate (16 to 18 years)
The Sixth Form programme at British School of Almería includes a wide variety of subjects. These include mathematics and science subjects, covering subjects such as biology, chemistry and physics. Humanities subjects offered include history, geography and business studies, all of which place special emphasis on language learning and development.
The British curriculum is complemented with subjects from the Spanish curriculum, this allows students to take the Spanish university entrance test (EBAU). The combination of the British baccalaureate together with the subjects chosen to take the EBAU, offers our students a wide range of possibilities, being able to apply to Spanish universities and the rest of the world.

At the end of Key Stage 5, pupils must take Advanced Level (A-Level) examinations which will provide them with an excellent grounding for their chosen undergraduate courses.
Exams and qualifications
Advanced Level (A-Level) Examinations
Advanced Level (A-Level) examinations are advanced level academic assessments usually taken at the end of secondary education. A-Levels are highly valued and recognised by international universities for their academic rigour and practical application.
Students typically select three or four subjects to study in depth over two years, at the end of which they sit external examinations that test their knowledge, skills and understanding in those specific areas. A Level results are fundamental to the university admissions process as they provide a standardised measure of a student’s academic performance, facilitating international comparison.
